StratiCELL offers an extensive range of assays dedicated to the study of the efficacy and mechanisms of action of cosmetic ingredients and / or formulations with anti-ageing properties, including functional tests and gene expression analyses.

StratiCELL evaluates the efficacy of a compound by modulating the different levels of ECM composition. In addition, enzymatic activity can be measured to assess any inhibition or activation effect.
StratiCELL evaluates the efficacy of a compound to either act as a senescence-specific cell killer, i.e. a senolytic agent, or to protect against senescence induction using human dermal fibroblasts (or other cell types) and through different assays such as ß galactosidase activity staining but also quantification of specific target genes or proteins.
StratiCELL evaluates the efficacy of a compound in controlling intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species, to induce antioxidant defences, to protect against oxidative damages such as protein carbonylation, lipid peroxidation and to modulate stress response pathways.
StratiCELL evaluates the efficacy of a compound in modulating the abundance and activity levels of the detoxification and recycling systems.
To evaluate the anti-glycation potential of dermo-cosmetic compounds, StratiCELL provides a global approach combining both transcriptomics studies and various bioassays dedicated to addressing the molecular mechanisms and cellular processes critically involved in AGEs' stress. These assays include:

- Quantification of cell and tissue contents in AGEs
- Measurement of cellular oxidative stress induced by AGEs
- Analysis of detoxification pathways including autophagy
- Study of AGEs' receptor biology (expression, activity, signalling)
- Modelling of the extra cellular matrix in presence of AGEs
StratiCELL has developed a unique in vitro reconstituted human epidermis model of solar lentigines based on specific culture conditions that induce hyperproliferation of the epidermis as well as an increase in pigmentary lesions with histological similarity to in vivo observations. This model is a powerful tool for assessing the efficacy of compounds in reducing age spots or improving their appearance.
