PIGMENTATION

Whether you are looking for skin whitening or a propigmenting effect, the 3D skin models from StratiCELL reproduce interactions observed in the epidermis and, if necessary, characteristics of pigmentation-related disorders.

Skin pigmentation is a result of melanin produced by melanocytes in the epidermis. Melanocyte activity, along with the type and distribution of melanin, are the main drivers for diversity of skin color. Based on its proprietary melanized reconstructed human epidermis (RHE-Mel), StratiCELL has developed various 3D skin models, from light to dark skins.

Additionally, these models are also used as basis to feature pigmentation-related disorders such as solar lentigines (SL) or vitiligo.

Whether you are looking for skin whitening or a propigmenting effect, RHE-Mel skin models reproduce the interactions between the keratinocytes and the melanocytes in the epidermis.

Technical Sheet

StratiCELL has developed a unique in vitro reconstituted human epidermis model of solar lentigines based on specific culture conditions that reproduce individualized hyper-pigmentation spots. Given histological similarities to in vivo observations, this unique in vitro model is a powerful tool for assessing the efficacy of compounds in reducing age spots or improving their appearance.

Technical Sheet

Vitiligo is a complex pathology with imprecise origin. The activation of the immune system (cytotoxic action of CD8 T cells and secretion of cytokines by memory T lymphocytes) as well as a lack of adhesion of melanocytes seem to be at the source of melanocytorrhagy. StratiCELL offers a model of reconstructed human epidermis stimulated with various inflammatory cytokines in order to reproduce this typical condition observed in vitiligo.
