POLLUTION

StratiCELL has developed standardised and flexible in vitro assays evaluating the “anti-pollution” effect of products by using real-life airborne pollutants and reference materials from diverse sources including urban dust, diesel exhaust particulates, and cigarette smoke extracts.
Anti-pollution effects can be assessed through the quantification of multiple biomarkers directly associated with the skin response to pollution, such as:

Activation of detoxification and antioxidative pathways

Inflammation

Barrier function

In support of the functional studies, or as a screening tool, StratiCELL has also developed a TaqMan Low Density qPCR Array to study simultaneously 96 target genes of the multiple pathways involved in cell and tissue response against pollution.
